Mind

One of the biggest roadblocks we have to our realization is mind (I am not referring to Mind). Our mind wants to make sense of everything – literally everything – so that it knows how to instruct us about dealing with it. The problem is that mind only has past information to work with. It is not capable of creative thinking. It can only project past experiences into the future. It literally can not conceive of new outcomes. It will consider them and will always find a reason to ignore that possibility in favor of moving toward fear.

Our mind is very dedicated. If it doesn’t know, it makes up a story. And, oh wow, won’t that get us into trouble.
How often have you experienced that? Your mind starts on a topic, let’s say the way your boss looked at you at work. Then it goes to all of the possible negatives. Knowing your deepest fears, mind will start to create meaning to justify the fear. For example, if you are worried about not doing something right at work, your mind will interpret the look as disappointment, anger, or it may even decide that you are going to get fired. All the while you are engaging with mind on the topic – countering it, excusing it, denying it – mind is in control from a FEAR base. It has you trapped. We call this hell.
You can’t win, you can only stop playing!

I use a three-part mind method –
Notice, Give Voice, and Expand.
Notic:e: I notice that mind is on one of its gerbil wheels.
Give voice: Literally say it out loud.
Expand: Using the word and, I add a truth,
Example – I am afraid my boss is going to fire me because I made that mistake, and I can’t take any action until I know for sure.
